ŞIRNEX - Helin's mother gave her name as Helin. However, the Turkish state didn't allow her family to give a Kurdish name to their daughter. So Helin's family was written her name on her identity card as "Fatma". Fatma Elarslan is one of the tens of children those who were killed by state forces in the İdil district of Şırnak.
After state forces began to attack the İdil district of Şırnak, Fatma Elarslan (13) disappeared and her family had no information about her. Then, they found their 13-year-old daughter's dead body in Mardin State Hospital. Fatma was the third child of a family of five children. She was a student in a secondary school. When she was born, her family gave her the name of "Hêlîn". However, the Turkish state didn't allow writing a Kurdish name on the identity card. So her family was written her name on the identity card as "Fatma". Nevertheless, all people in İdil knew her name as "Hêlîn".
Hêlîn's father Mehmet and mother Gülsüm Eraslan took place in politics for years. Fatma and her family didn't leave their home after the martial law under the name of "curfew" was declared in İdil. Fatma disappeared after a short period. Her family hadn't received any news from her for days. Then, they found their daughter's dead body. Her smile face on the photographes was brutally made unrecognizable. Fatma's small body was burned. Fatma was sent off on aneternal journey in the besieged town of Cizre. State forces didn't allow people attend the ceremony except her family.
"She was my baby," said Fatma's mother Gülsüm Elarslan. She continued to talk by saying, "My daughter was small, but she had a great heart like Cudi and Gabar mountains. She loved her people. She always said that she wanted to resist in the struggle." Gülsüm emphasized that her daughter lost her life in the resistance of Kurdish people. "We aren't scared of the enemy. We will never take steps backward even if we are killed. We will continue to resist. Kurdish people are like trees which produce leaves in spring and like sunflowers which are reborn. We will never be annihilated by killing. I will never forget the wounds of my daughter and the enemy who killed her."
Mehmet Elarslan said that his daughter told him, "Why does the Prime Minister poppress on us? That's injustice. We must resist against this." Mehmet said, "My daughter is the daughter and martyr of Kurdish people. We will never forget this oppression and we will follow her murderer to the end."
