Wîdad: We won't surrender to gangs

TIL TEMIR - Mother of five Wîdad Ehmed lost her husband in bomb attacks of Daesh gangs. Her husband had joined the People's Protection Units (YPG) to fight against Daesh's gangs. Wîdad said that they will never surrender to gangs. "We will follow his sacred path," said Wîdad.

Mother of five Wîdad Ehmed(37) lives in Tiltemir city of Cizîr Canton. She is one of the women who pay heavy price in Rojava Revolution. Wîdad lost her husband in bomb attacks of Daesh gangs. She told us her life story. Wîdad said that she married her husband Garzan when she was 22 years old. "Our economic situation was very bad. We built a two-roomed house. My husband was a worker, sometimes he carried the stuff as a porter and sometimes, he worked in construction. We lived from hand to mouth. But we continued to live.

"When the war began in Syria, the region's economic situation badly affected that. All work was almost ended. My husband became unemployed. The war process was begun. But still we had many ways. My husband Garzan took place in Municipality and he worked in the fuel distribution in the municipality. As everything slowly went better for us, Daesh's gangs attacked Til Temir. Last year the attacks became intensified. Women and children were sent to out of Til Temir. Martyr Garzan took me and children to Dirbesîyê. I stayed with my sister's family there.

"Four months later, the fighters of the People's Protection Units (YPG) and The Women's Protection Units (YPJ) saved the region from Daesh's gangs. We returned to our homes. Garzan joined the YPG and he didn't want to leave the defense fields. Gangs had planted mines on the way of Mihimakê village. He felt a martyr in landmine explosion there. I was pregnant. I gave a birth. I gave my son my husband's name. Now, I am a mother and also a father for my children.

"We will never surrender to gangs. I will follow my husband path. Meanwhile, I will be very strong for my children. I have a small garden, I plant vegetable in my garden and I sell them. I am feeling strong. I can rise to a challenge."
