ŞIRNEX - Ayşe Ertene lost her husband in Cizre's Newroz in 1992. "Everything was very good. They attacked us in an instant. Thousands of people were killed since Cizre's Newroz in 1992. The killing has continued. They think they will cow into submission us by killing. We will never surrender." said Ayşe.

The spirit of 1992 Newroz resistance, which has an important place in Cizîra Botan (refer to Cizre), has never left Cizre. The resistance has continued in Cizîra Botan. The people have got ready for Newroz with the same spirit of resistance. Ayşe Ertene was in Newroz area in 1992. Ayşe married Hüseyin when she was 16 years old. Ayşe said that her husband had been arrested two times. They had three children. "At that time, we had suffered very strong pressure like everyone else. We were married but my husband devoted himself to the Kurdish movement. There was onlt the name of our marriage." said Ayşe.

Ayşe talked about the Newroz day in 1992; "We had prepared our local clothes many days ago. There was very strong pressure. However, we celebrated Newroz Festival despite the pressure. We had gathered in the Alapxane junction. We had visited the cemetery. Then, we went to the Newroz area. Before, the state had allowed the celebration of Newroz. When we were celebrating the Newroz, the people tols us the police blockaded the area.

"Then, they attacked us. They executed four people in front of me. The people still resisted. My husband came and told me to scatter to neighborhoods. We scattered to neighborhoods. There were many wounded people in the streets when we scattered to neighborhoods. I went to my mother's home. I heard my husband had been shot at 3 p.m. The violent clashes broke out in the night. I wanted to see Hüseyin but I couldn't. I could sleep until morning. I wondered about Hüseyin. One of my relatives came to my mother's home in the morning. He told me that Hüseyin fell a martyr. That time, I was only 20 years old.

"Our struggle has continued since that day. They say we are brothers and sisters. However, we don't have any right. We ask for our rights. They have killed us. They buried houndreds of people in basements. The children killed were our children.

"I don't want this year's Newroz be like in 1992. Everyone must celebrate how they want. Thousands of people have been killed since 1992. They have continued to kill people. They think they will cow into submission us by killing. We will never surrender. Women were killed near their children. These children will grow up. They will learn the true. The state has more enemies."
