AMED - The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and civil society organizations made a statement about the celebration of Newroz festival in Diyarbakır. They called on all people to claim the resistance by attending the celebration of Newroz.

The preparation of Newroz has continued in Diyarbakır. The co-chairs of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP), the HDP group vice president Çağlar Demirel, the representatives of civil society organizations and the HDP MPs gathered in Newroz Park, where the celebration will be held, to make a statement. The president of the Organizing Committee for Newroz Hafize İpek said that the Newroz celebration ewill be begun on March 21 in the morning at 9 and it will continue until 4 p.m. Hafize pointed out that Newroz is gained by resisting. "We call on all people to attend the Newroz which own the history of resistance."

DBP Diyarbakır co-chair Ali Şimşek said, "The meaning of Newroz is the people who resist in Kurdistan against oppression. Newroz means Mehmet Tunç and hundreds of resisters like him. Everybody, who will come to this area, will come with this meaning and resistance. Our people should come to this areawith our local clothes. Let's frustrate the war concept which has been imposed in Kurdistan."

HDP group vice president Çağlar Demirel said, "We know that this year's Newroz coincide the pain. We will shout the resistance of Cizre, Silopi and Sur despite the pain. They have tried to solve the problem by carrying out massacres. We will be in Newroz area to give a message that we have built our future and they cannot annihilate this by imposing bans and carrying out massacres.

"We call on all Amed's people and our people of Turkey to attend the Newroz."
