COLEMERG - Hakkari's district Yüksekova has been under bombardment for seven days. The attacks have continued in the Cumhuriyet, Eski Kışla, Dize and Orman neighborhoods of Yüksekova. It is claimed that the AKP forces attacked the neighborhoods at 10 and 11 a.m. by using chemical or toxic gas and about 40 people have been killed in the attack.

Hakkari's district Yüksekova (Gever) has been under bombardment for seven days. It is claimed that the AKP forces used chemical gas to break the resistance in the town. A citizen, who is in the town now, could contact a delegation of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) by phone. The citizen said that the AKP forces used chemical gas between 10 and 11 a.m. on the Cumhuriyet, Eski Kışla, Dize and Orman neighborhood of Yüksekova and about 40 people have been killed in the attack. The dead bodies were taken to a home by Special Forces. According to reports, the Special Forces put on gas masks.

We contacted a witness, who doesn't want give her/his name, by phone, said, "They had something in their hands. They had back-packs and they put on gas masks. They used chemical gas. Its color was yellow. They have used this gas on the points where the Civil Defense Units (YPS) have fighted. They killed about 40 people. The bodies of the people looked like melted and then frozen. They took the dead bodies to a home."

According to the witness statement, there wasn't any clash and bombardment in the Orman, Eski Kışla, Dize and Cumhuriyet neighborhoods. This strengthens the claim.

Lezgin Botan, a representative of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Van, who is in Yüksekova now, said that he contacted the witness by phone. Lezgin said that they are trying to confirm the information.
