Thousands of people flock to Newroz

AMED - Thousands of people are flocking to Newroz area by shouting "We'll win resisting" against the AKP's war policies.

Celebrations of Newroz began with a slogan of "We'll win resisting". The celebrations have continued despite bans and attacks. Every year, millions of people attend the celebration of Newroz in Diyarbakır. Today, women, children and youths gathered at bus station early in the morning to go to Newroz area with the posters of Abdullah Öcalan and flags of the PKK and KCK by wearing their local clothes. The people shouted the slogans such as "Long live Leader Apo" (Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the PKK) "Long live the resistance of Kurdistan" and "We'll resisting". The people said that they gathered in the area of Newroz despite bans and massacres. "Celebrating of Newroz doesn't mean that we are not sad. Newroz is a resistance area. We will strengthen our organization by resisting."

Children colored the streets by wearing coloured clothes shouting the slogans and carrying the flags while they run to Newroz area. 121 buses, which are organized by Newroz Organizing Committee, have carried the people to Bağlar Newroz Park from 27 bus stops. In the morning, the martial law under the name of "curfew" was lifted in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. The people in the district are preparing to go to Newroz Area. Meanwhile, armored vehicles and TOMA (Intervention Vehicle toSocial Events) placed in all critical points of the city with thousands of police. The people say that the police are aimed at creating a psychological effect on the city.

After the security check in the Newroz area, the people have begun to enter the area. Newroz Organizing Committee assign about 5,000 people to protect security of the area.The people hanged banners of "Happy Newroz" in Kurdish and Turkish with the colors of green, yellow and red.

The Newroz celebration will be start after stand in silence. After stand in silence, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, from Imrali delegation, will read the messages of Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the PKK, which were written last Newroz. After reading of the messages, the program will continue with activities.
