Hundreds of thousands salute the people who resist in the areas of resistance

AMED - Hundreds of thousands people attend the celebration of Newroz in Diyarbakır. The celebration began with standing in silence. The people sent their respect to Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the PKK and to those who resist in Rojava and North Kurdistan. Co- mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Gültan Kışanak addressed the people, "The fire of Newroz is lighted against darkness and oppression. I congratulate the people those who don't surrender to darkness. We have hope and our hope is to having a free future. Today is the day to resist against the oppression."

Hundreds of thousands people have gathered in Diyarbakır's Newroz. The mottos of this year's Newroz are; "Free leadership, Autonomous Kurdistan, Democratic Turkey", "We'll win resisting". The citizens had flocked to Newroz area many hours before the program began. For days, the preparations of Newroz Festival were continued. The celebration of the Newroz was begun at 10 a.m. However, the people flocked to the Bağlar Newroz area many hours ago. The people are still coming to the area. Women wore their local clothes and they shout the slogans such as "Long live leader Apo" (refer to Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the PKK), "Long live the resistance of Sur" and "The PKK is people and the people are here". As the area is turning the colors of yellow, red and green, the people are crrying the photographes of Abdullah Öcalan and the flags of KCK and YPS. The people are dancing the halay with the songs of resistance. Many journalists, from Turkey and other countries, delegations and the general presidents of political parties came to area.

Mother of Mehmet Yavuzel, who was killed in Cizre and Mothers of the Disappeared attended the celebration of Newroz. After standing in silence, the president of the Organizing Committee for Newroz Hafize İpek made a statement. She said, "Newroz is resistance and peace. Kurdish people say "No" to be slave." Hafize wished a happy Newroz to all people.

Co-mayors of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı made statement. Gültan said, "The fire of Newroz is lighted against darkness and oppression. I congratulate the people those who don't surrender to darkness. We have hope and our hope is to having a free future. Today is the day to resist against the oppression. I want to call on all Turkey; our future is together. We can liberate this country if we are together."

Newroz continues with great enthusiasm.
