ANKARA – The AKP refused the demand of research commission for sexual abuse against children to be investigated in the first session. Meral Danış Beştaş evacuated this situation and she said that this situation is an embarrassing situation for the history of Turkey. Besime Konca, meanwhile, pointed out that Turkey legitimizes the abuse by remaining silent and such events will be increased if the people keep silent.
Earlier this month, a shock claim came to light concerning the sexual abuse of students by a teacher of Ensar Foundation, a prominent non-governmental organization. The teacher has been arrested for alleged sexual abuse of eight male students in the Central Anatolian province of Karaman. The teacher had been teaching private courses for students in apartments rented by the Karaman branch of the Ensar Foundation. After the sexual assault against children, a demand of research commission for sexual abuse against children was took place in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. However, the AKP refused the research commission sexual abuse against children to be investigated in the first session. Many people reacted the refusing of the commission on social media. Thereupon, four Turkish parties approve the commission on the second session. The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MPs Meral Danış Beştaş and Besime Konca evacuated this situation and they said that this situation is an embarrassing situation for the history of Turkey.
HDP MP Meral Danış Beştaş stated that the AKP clearly naturalizes the abuse, harassment, rape by refusing the motion in the first session. “Although this event is also been said to be taken to court, definitely the decisions are in favor of the perpetrator against the victim. We know these kinds of cases of sexual abuse against a child in Pozantı, Şakran and many other places. The attitude of the AKP will be written in history. The Ministry of Family and Social Policies Sema Ramazanoğlu talks about the Ensar Foundation as one our institution and she means this institution and government cannot be accused for the sexual abuse of students by saying this.”
HDP Women's Group Spokesperson Besime Konca, meanwhile, said, “The government legitimizes this situation with prevention project the divorce, the ideological, political discourse and 4 + 4 + 4 education system.” Besime reminded the speech of the President’s wife Emine Erdoğan “the harem was a school for members of the Ottoman dynasty and an educational establishment for preparing women for life” and Besime said that the social fabric and life retrogress seriously.
Besime said, “This attack is not just against the children, it is against the community. We will follow this process with women's organizations. If the society in Turkey remains silent, these kinds of cases will be legitimized. The state mustn’t protect a foundation. If it protects the foundation, it means this foundation is part of them.”
