ERZÎROM – Safiye Karadaban went to Erzurum Regional Training and Research Hospital to get examined. Safiye was exposed to racist attack and insult just because she spoke in Kurdish by Op. Dr. Coşkun Yolaş and his secretary.
Racist attacks to the Kurds have increased day by day. State separator policies come to light with the event in Erzurum again. Safiye Karadaban went to the Neurosurgery department in Erzurum Regional Training and Research Hospital to get examined. Safiye was exposed to racist attack and insult just because she spoke in Kurdish by Op. Dr. Coşkun Yolaş and his secretary. Safiye talked about what she faced in hospital.
Safiye stated that she went to hospital with her son Kadir because she cannot speak in Turkish. She went into the examination room with her son. She thought to tell her problems to her son in Kurdish then her son could explain her problem to doctor in Turkish. Safiye said, “I asked from my son to translate my problems in Turkish. When I was talking, the doctor suddenly stood up and told us, “Leave here”. And then, he called one officer to take us outside. My son Kadir told him, “My mother examination isn’t ended, when it will be ended, we will leave.” At that time, the doctor attacked on Kadir by jumping up from the table. He said, “I say you go out”. His secretary, who waited near the door, insulted me by crying vigorously. I turned to doctor and I told, “I am not afraid of you. I am only afraid of God. You cannot treat me this way.
“He can be a doctor but this doesn’t give him the right to insult on us. On the contrary, he has to care about us. He must do his duty. He insulted us for his racial discrimination. The doctor and his secretary attacked us. Being a Kurd doesn’t mean I want violence and fight. We don’t want these. On the contrary, we want peace, friendship, unity and solidarity."
Safiye and her son Kadir file a complaint against the doctor and his secretary.
