WAN - From last summer, Turkey began a policy of military curfews and severe crackdowns on the Kurdish towns and cities. War policies have been launched in Nusaybin, Şırnak and Yüksekova. Women call for unity to stop the war by reacting to the war policies.
War policies under the name of "curfew" have continued in Hakkari's Yüksekova (Gever) district and Şırnak after Sur, Cizre and Nusaybin. Women in Van reacted to the siege which has continued in Şırnak, Nusaybin and Yüksekova. Mercan İşnaz (35) is one of these women. Mercan said that the clashes, which broke out due to the siege, must be stopped. Mercan sees the AKP's government responsible for the clashes and calls for stop the war.
Mercan stated that beside the massacres in Sur, Cizre and Silopi, the homes, stores and streets have been made unusable. Mercan said, "Let's stop this war. The state has demolished Sur, cizre and Silopi. Now the state is trying to do the same in Gever, Şırnak and Nusaybin. Enough, how many people have to be killed? We are mothers. We want peace. This war will continue unless Kurdish people unity. Let's unity, as women, we must stop this war right now."
Makbule Kumli (60) emphasized that the wars won't bring any benefit to the humanity. She noted that the war brings death and destruction with itself and she reminded the children have been killed and killed women's bodies have been exhibited in the siege. "As women and mothers, we don't want war. Don't let the soldiers, police and guerrillas die. Enough don't let mothers cry. Kurdish people cannot be annihilated with these war policies. They burned our martyrs; they burned to death our children in the basements. Which religion can approve this oppression? As Kurdish people, we also know how we can fight. But we want peace even if we know how to fight. The AKP's government has jailed the people who they cannot annihilate. How long will this oppression and denials continue? We have buried our children. Kurdish people cannot be annihilated by killing."
Aysel Şan (45), another woman in Van, said, "We don't grow up our children to AKP's government kill them. Enough, let's stop this war. We want peace. We are tired to wake up with new death. We are tired of living in fear of "if my child will be killed" today. Don't let mother and women cry." Aysel said women must unity to stop the war.
