WAN - The resistance has continued in the Yüksekova district of Hakkair for 18 days. The member of Women's Civil Defense Units YPS-JIN Hayat Orhan died during ongoing resistance. Women bid farewell to Hayat Orhan by carrying her coffin.
For 18 days, the resistance has continued in the Yüksekova (Kurdish name: Gever) district of Hakkari. The member of Women's Civil Defense Units YPS-JIN Hayat Orhan (nom de guerre Mizgin Marünüz) died during ongoing resistance. Hayat's body was brought to Van. Many people, among them the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Adem Gever and co-chair of the Mesopotamia Association of Assistance and Solidarity for Families with Lost Relatives (MEYA-DER) Nerima Urar, gathered in front of Yeni Neighborhood People's Assembly to bid farewell to Hayat. Women carried Hayat's coffin to Yeni Neighborhood Cemetery. People shouted slogan "Martyrs are immortal" in the funeral ceremony. After the ceremony, Neriman Urar made a short speech.
Neriman said, "Our comrade Mizgin becomes martyr in Gever by resisting. The enemy must know that we won't be scared. Our martyrs gave their life for Kurdish people and humanity. We call on Van people; If we keep silence now, the war will break out here, too. So, we have to break the silence for our young people not die."
After the speech of Nerima Urar, Adem Geveri talked. Adem said, "We'll win resisting in Gever how we did in Rojava. The government must know that the dictatorship always loses. The AKP government will lose."
Then, Hayat's father Abdullah Orhan began to speak. He said, "Mizgin isn't only my martyr, she is the martyr of all Kurdish people."
After the speeches, the people bid farewell to Hayat.
