ŞIRNEX – Women returned to the Nur neighborhood of Cizre and they have begun to rebuild their houses. However, the most longing of them is the youths and the women said, “They built a heaven for us”. Women showed us and said, “They built the world in our dream here”.

Nur and Cudi neighborhoods of Cizre are the neighborhoods where the most intense attacks carried out. During the "curfew” which declared on September last year, the intense attacks were carried out in the Nur neighborhood. But, the neighborhood isn’t collapse despite the ruins. The women in the Nur neighborhood are missing the youths who wanted to build a new world for them. Children are running in the neighborhood by smiling. Women showed us the graffiti and they said longingly, “The youths wrote these.” The graffiti reads, “No passage to theft and prostitution”, “YPS is guarantee for the revolution.”

Melahat Gerçek lives in the Nur neighborhood. She began to talk in her demolished house. “When the clashes intensified, we had to leave. We found our house demolished when we returned. Nothing left from our house.”

Ayşe Deniz is another woman in the neighborhood. She continued to talk by showing the pieces of bombs. “Nur neighborhood was very beautiful. They demolished our houses. What did we do to them? Why whole world keeps silent?”

“There aren’t the walls of my house. We can use only one of our rooms. I returned to my home. I will raise my children by telling the massacre in Cizre. They demolished our house. I felt sad when I found my home like this.” said Sıdıka Türk. Sıdıka stated that the most exasperater her is the state’s sexist graffiti. She said, “War also has morality. But there isn’t morality with them.”

We continued to talk the women. Asya Geçmez reminded the youths. “When they were here, everywhere was heaven. We called them to here. They came and built the world in our dream. Here was very nice when they were here. But, they left. We left them alone. I wish they were here now.”
