Nomad women produce natural foods

ÊLIH - Nomad women, who forced to leave their villages, have continued their natural village life in the cities. Women have continued to produce cheese, milk and yogurt without buying them in stores.

Some people have continued their natural life in Batman. Nomad women, who live in the Bağlar neighborhood of Batman have continued ecological life, have kept animals such as chicken, cow and sheep. They have brought natural cheese, yogurt and eggs to our table. They boil the milk on the fire of dried dung to make yogurt. The milk and cheese, which have been made in factory by adding additives, have been prepared in the hands of nomad women without additives. Sozdar Acet is one of the natural foods producers. Sozdar has three cows and she has produced natural cheese and yogurt. She takes care of her children by selling the cheese and yogurt.

"I am trying to take care of my four children. We have produced cheese, milk and yogurt and we have sold them. We make a living by producing natural products." said Sozdar and she told us how they make yogurt. "First we leach the milk before boil it. Then we put the milk on the fire of dried dung and let it to boil about half an hour. We pour the milk to a bucket. After waiting for the milk cool, we add existing yogurt to the cool milk. After 4-5 hours, the yogurt is ready."

Mother of six Ayşe Acar, meanwhile, said, "We feed the animals with hay and barley. We get dung owing to the hay and barley. We dry the dung under sun. We use the dried dung to boil the milk and cook dinner."
