Mardin Governor announced on March 15 that the governorship has banned all kinds of meetings, marching and press release in the center of Mardin and its districts for one month. Mardin women protested the bans and the curfew which has been imposed in the Nusaybin district of Mardin by making a statement to the press with the participation of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Gülseren Yıldırım. The statement was made in Karayolları Park. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Province co-chair Perihan Ağaoğlu, female executives of the HDP and DBP Provincial and District organizations, Peace Mothers and female co-mayors of the municipalities attended the press statement. Before the statement, the park had been blockaded by police.
Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Province co-chair Perihan Ağaoğlu made the statement. Perihan stated that the 30 days ban is an arbitrary decision. "Nusaybin has been under ban for days. We couldn't have chance to protest this ban in democratic way. And therefore, we condemn all of these bans. We protest once again the ban which has been imposed in Nusaybin."
Then, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Gülseren Yıldırım talked. She condemned the bans on democratic activities. She said, "Once more, we say "No" to the sieges, violence and war. This country needs peace, equality and democracy. This country doesn't need siege."
After the press statement, women protested the bans by clapping hands.
