ADANA - Çilem Doğan killed her husband who repeatedly beat her and tried to force her into prostitution. The second hearing of Çilem began in Adana. The lawyers of Çilem stated that Çilem had applied to police station four times and reported them that her husband battered her. The trial of Çilem postponed to May 6, 2016.
Çilem Doğan (28) killed her husband Hasan Karabulut, who repeatedly beat her and tried to force her into prostitution, last year on July. Çilem asked, "Why do women always have to be killed?" after being detained. Çilem's second hearing began in Adana courthouse. The lawyers of Çilem asked Çilem to be released as reason Çilem used her rifght of self-defense while she killed her husband. However, the court didn’t released Çilem by showing reason of missing documents.
Almost 20 lawyers are defensing Çilem in the court now. Lawyer İsa Ayanoğlu and Adana Women's Platform members Fatoş Haçıvelioğlu stated in the court that Çilem had applied to police station four times in 4-5 days. “According to the reports sent by police station, Çilem called police station called police station four times in four-five days. Meanwhile, Çilem said in her testimony in the court, “I certainly did not want to kill a human. I have two-year-old child. I want the justice to be ensured.” The lawyers again demanded her released. However, the judge refused this demand and postponed the trial to May 6, 2016.
