'They build buildings on our children's bodies'

AMED - Families of Rozerin Çukur and Ramazan Öğüt who were killed in the Sur district of Diyarbakır, have waited to retrieve their children's bodies for five months. Despite the famillies those who cannot identify their children's bodies, gave blood samples, the blood samples have been held in Anti-Terror Team (TEM) branch. The aunt of Ramazan Öğüt Zara Baran said, "The families cannot recognize and identify their children. They have built houses on the children's bodies. We want to take our children's bones. We demand to retrieve our children's bodies."

Rozerin Çukur, turgay Girçek, Gündüz Akmeşe, Ramazan Öğüt, Cihat Morgül, Mahmut Oruç, Erhan Keskin, Hakan Arslan, Welat Bilen and Erdal Tekin were killed in the Sur district of Diyarbakır. Their families have held a vigil in Tigris Euphrates Cultural Center to retrieve their children's bodies for three months. 36 dead bodies have been retrieved from Sur until now. 11 of them are in Diyarbakır, four of them were sent to Malatya, 14 of them were sent to Antep and seven of them were sent to Elazığ. The families said that they gave blood samples to identify the bodies. However, the samples have been held in Anti-Terror Team (TEM) branch and they haven't given the samples to forensic sciences. Fahriya Çukur, mother of Rozerin Çukur, said that they want to take their children's bones at least. "We gave blood samples three weeks ago. We cannot take our children's bodies."

Fahriye said, "We have waited here for five months to retrieve our children's bodies. We have begun a vigil here to take our children's bodies only. We gave blood samples three weeks ago. However, there isn't any process. I want to take my child's body and I want peace. This savagery must be stopped."

Meanwhile, Zara Baran, the aunt of Ramazan Öğüt, said, "We gave blood samples 12 days ago. The families cannot recognize and identify their children anymore. The state doesn't give us our children's dead bodies. We want to bury them. How can we accept this state? We will never forgive this state. We have been here for six months. It rained, and then it snowed and it is spring now. However, they haven't given our children's bodies yet. They have begun to build houses on our children's bodies. They are scared of our dead bodies and our bones. We will never back down from our children. We will be with them forever."
