Statue of Arîn Mîrkan erected in Sulaymaniyah

SİLÊMANÎ - The statue of Arîn Mîrkan has been erected on the 63rd anniversary of the death of famous Kurdish woman Hapsaxani Naqip in Sulaymaniyah.
The statue of Arîn Mîrkan, who was a member of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and blew herself up among Daesh members, has been erected in Sulaymaniyah on the 63rd anniversary of the death of famous Kurdish woman Hapsaxani Naqip. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (YNK) Politburo member Mela Bahtiya spoke at the opening ceremony. Mela Bahtiyar said, "Arîn blew herself up among Daesh members when no one believed that Mıştenur would be saved from Daesh gangs. She has become a symbol of resistance and hope."
Then, the Governor of Sulaymaniyah Dr. Aso Feridun held the floor. He said, "Arîn put fear in Daesh members' blach hearts. She laid down her life for her people. She told the Daesh members, "Here is Kobenê." by blowing herself. Each stone, house, street and fighter became a bomb against Daesh." Dr. Aso Feridun also said that whole world is proud of Arîn Mîrkan and she told the Kurdish women and their struggle to the whole world.
Meanwhile, the sculpturer Berzan Hewrami said that he began to sculpture the statue on January 2015. He said, "The length of the statue is five and a half meters and it is made of bronze. The weight of the statue is 4 tons 300 kilos. We are erecting the statue of Arîn Mîrkan, who is a symbol of resistance, in the Qilyasan Square."
