AMED – Çınar women decided to set up a bag workshop for form their economy by taking place in production.

Women in the Çınar district of Diyarbakır gathered in the Jinwar Women’s Center of Çınar Municipality to discuss their problems to form their economy by taking place in production. Çınar Municipality co-chair Rukiye Eryılmaz, Women's Policy Manager of Çınar Municipality Halide Türkoğlu and the Amed Coordination of the Economy of Free Women's Congress (KJA) speaker Sevim Güzelek and women discussed their problem with discussion about “Strengthening Women's Economic”. Women discussed the economy, women’s economy relations, what kind of production in Çınar will help women’s employment and what kind of vocational course will help women’s employment. After the discussions, women decided to set up a bag workshop by becoming a cooperative.

Çınar Municipality co-chair Rukiye Eryılmaz spoke at the meeting. She said, “We really want women to stand on their own legs. As Çınar Municipality, we’ll encourage women. We found “Strngthenin Women’s Economy Unit”. We’ll work to add the women to the economy with vocational courses.”

Meanwhile, Amed Coordination of the Economy of Free Women's Congress (KJA) speaker Sevim Güzelek said, “When all of us are born, we become child, daughter, bride, wife and mother. In fact, we naturally become a part of the production while becoming all of these. We produce when we cook, do housework and look after a child. However, women will be much more visible by becoming a part of the production.”

Women's Policy Manager of Çınar Municipality Halide Türkoğlu said, “ın fact, this decision is the first women’s revolt against the economic exploitation.”
