‘School principal drives my daughter suicide by hiding abuse!’

MUĞLA – 14-year-old Olcay was harassed by a male student at her school. She reported that to school management. However, school principal hided the abuse against her and he blamed her. Olcay tried to commit suicide by jumping off the room of school principal. Olcay said, “I was harassed, but they blamed me.” Olcay’s mother Emine said the male student, whose father is retired petty officer, harassed many girls in the school before, but the boy has been protected by school management.
Olcay K. is 14 years old and eighth- grader. She was harassed by a male student whose father is retired petty officer. Olcay’s mother said 44 year-old women and 14 year-old girl have been harassed and blamed in this country. She said, “They are harassed and blamed.”
Olcay K. (14) was born in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin as seventh child of nine- children family. The family moved to the Milas district of Muğla nine years ago. Olcay goes to Doktor Mete Ersoy Secondary school. She was harassed on April 19 by a male student. Olcay tried to protect herself by scratching the male student. The school principal called Olcay to his room. He told her they were going to begin a disciplinary proceeding due to scratches on the male student’s arms. According to report received from Olcay’s friends at school, the school principal, the male student, Olcay and the father of male student were in the room for 40 minutes. Olcay’s mother never informed about the issue. Olcay jumped off the room of school principal. It was the third floor.
Olcay’s mother Emine E. spoke to JINHA. The assistant manager of the school called Emine and told her to come to school if she wasn’t busy. Emine was busy she had to look after her child. Then her daughter came home and told her that the situation isn’t good at school. Emine left her child at home and went to school.
“I saw Olcay when I was going to school. She was crying. Her hands and legs were trembling with fear. I asked her what happened. She told me “I was harassed and I was blamed.” I felt hot and cold all over. My daughter told me that the school principal didn’t believe her. She had a witness. We went to school. The school principal told me they were going to begin a disciplinary proceeding due to scratches on the male student’s arms. I told him the male student harassed her. But he never listened to me. That times my daughter stood up and jumped off the room of school principal. I’ll bring a complaint against the school principal.”
Olcay is in intensive care unit. The school principal hasn’t be rusticated from school. Olcay’s family starts a campaign on social media under the hashtag #olcayiçinsusma against harassment.
