Rojava women defy the social norms

NEWS CENTER- Fatma Ebdullah had to leave the school due to social norms when she was nine years old. 11 years later, she has begun to complete her education in "Martyr Viyan Amara Academy". Mother of two Fatma's dream is to teach the children in their native language.

Fatma Ebdullah was born in the Serzurî village of Kobanê in 1996. Fatma had to leave the school due to traditional norms when she was nine years old. Fatma was forced to marry by her family. Fatma, who became mother at a young age, continues her education in "Martyr Viyan Amara Academy".

Fatma has education to be Kurdish-language teacher. She goes to academy with her six-month son Mustafa. She stays at the academy between 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. everyday. Fatma's goal is to teach the children how to read and write in Kurdish.
