Brochure prepared in 3 languages for art of ‘telkari’

MÊRDÎN – Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural and Social Affairs prepared a brochure in three languages themed “Telkari”, Mardin's traditional silver jewelry art, with the motto; “The art of telkari that has survived through the ages, should be produced with the traditional technique.”
Mardin's traditional silver jewelry art 'telkari' or “filigree” has been identified with Mardin, a city in southeastern Turkey. Telkari is like a type of needlework or lacework using gold or silver wires, as thin as hair. Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural and Social Affairs has published a brochure in Kurdish, Turkish and English. The brochure tells the history of telkari, has been produced for thousands of years by being handled with patience, gracefully shaped, and produced with labor. A statement was made. The statement reads; “This exceptional art is special to Mardin. The works to register officially of telkari have continued to introduce this art to the world. Telkari is a type of needlework or lacework using silver wires. Telkari is an art based on manual labour.”
