The season of grape leaves begins in Efrîn

EFRÎN- Women, who live in the villages of Efrîn, have begun to gather the grape leaves with the coming of spring.

Efrîn Canton is one of the greenest areas in the West Kurdistan. The people of Efrîn Canton live off the land. They gather organic products from nature. They gather the natural products from fertile soil and they preserve the naturalness by passing them through traditional processes. Efrîn women, who live in the villages, have begun to gather the grape leaves.

"We have a lot of work thesedays," said Fatma Sîdo, who is one of the women in the villages. Fatma said, "Women gather grape leaves by coming together in the vineyards. We send the keaves to bazaar to be sold. We also keep some for winter. The grape leaves Sarma (dish of grape or cabbage rolled around a filling usually based on minced meat). We gather the leaves by dozens. We put them under shadow and keep waiting them for a while. They are ready when they dry."
