Western Kurdistan Folk Festival to begin today

RIMÊLAN - 2nd Western Kurdistan Folk Festival is going to begin today. Many women will perform folk dances in the festival which dedicates to the memory of Hozan Mizgîn.
2nd Western Kurdistan Folk Festival is held in the memory of Hozan Mizgîn (Gurbet Aydın) who died in a clash erupted in the Tatvan district of Bitlis on May 11. The festival, organized by The Mesopotamian Movement for Democratic Culture and Art in Europe (TEV-ÇAND), will be held between 10 and 11 May in the Rimêlan city of Cizîr Canton. In today's program of the festival, the members of TEV-ÇAND will march from Girkê Legê to Rimêlan and a concert will be performed in memory of Hozan Mizgîn. 14 female groups will perform folk dances in the second day of the festival.
Dime Mihemed, from Zelal Folk Dance Group, said, "Group Zelal was founded in 2013. We mostly perform the folk dances of Elazığ region. Our purpose to found this group is to save our culture and art. The enemy has tried to annihilate this culture for years. So, we'll save the Kurdish culture to the end. The festival is going to be held in the day Hozan Mizgîn died."
