KOBANÊ - Women those who work in the sewing workshop opened in Kobanê Canton under the leadership of Women's Assembly said, "We continue our lives with our own labor."

Women have carried out works to strengthen the economy of women in Kobanê Canton under the leadership of Women's Assembly. The assembly has put the project into practice to leave the field clear for female employment. Lastly, the assembly opened a sewing workshop for women. 10 women are working at the workshop now. Women work between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and they mostly sew women's clothes.

Fidan Bîrgil, who lost her husband in the resistance of Kobanê, is a member of the executive board of the workshop. Fidan said, "I am very happy since I started this job. I can buy the needs of my daughter and I can take care of my daughter now." Emine Mihemed is another woman who works in the workshop. She stated that she learnt sewing owing to this workshop. She said, "We continue our lives with our own labor and this makes us feel more powerful. I call on all women; all women must go out to work. They should stand on their own legs."
