Turgay and Cihat buried side by side

AMED - Cihat Morgül and Turgay Girçek died in the Sur district of Diyarbakır. Their dead bodies have been identified by their families after months. Their families and people bid farwell to Cihat and Turgay today. Turgay's mother said, "Finally, I found your bones, you have a grave now."

Cihat Morgül and Turgay Girçek died in the attacks on the besieged Sur district of Diyarbakır. Their dead bodies had been taken to the morgue of the Antep Forensic Medicine Institute. Two young people's dead bodies were identified yesterday by their families after months and were brought to Diyarbakır. Kadriye Morgül and Makbule Girçek had demanded at least their children's bones for four months. Two mothers buried their children side by side in Yeniköy Cemetery today. The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Feleknaz Uca, members of the Mesopotamia Association of Assistance and Solidarity for Families with Lost Relatives (MEYA-DER), Fahriye Çukur whose daughter Rozerin Çukur was killed in Sur and other mothers who seek their children dead bodies attended the funeral. People often shouted slogans suc as "Martyrs are immortal" and "Long live the resistance of YPS".

Mother of Rozerin Çukur Fahriye said, "Don't hang your head, our struggle will continue. Martyrs are immortal."

Meanwhile, MEYA-DER co-chair Ayşe Dicle gave a speech and she said, "We waited to bury these people for four months. These mothers cried to take their children's dead bodies for four months. But, everyone must know that Kurdish people cannot be annihilated by killing."

Turgay's father Murat Girçek spoke in the funeral, too. He said, "These children were martyred for this struggle. Don't forget them."
