Natural products of Efrîn prepared for winter

EFRÎN - Women have begun the preparations of summer with the end of the winter season in Efrîn Canton. They gather the plants and prepare foods for next winter.

As the nature surrounds itself with many color and and beauty in the spring, the needs of people are implicit in this nature. Therewith, women have begun to collect and produce many products for winter in this beauty while the world consumes industrial products.

Xemê Xelîl is one of the women who are in assistance and solidarity in Efrîn Canton. She is from the Raco district of Efrîn Canton. Xemê said, "The plants become more green, sheeps and cows give better milk in these months. The smell and taste of this milk are better. We make cheese, yogurt and butter with milk."

Women make strained yogurt for winter. Xemê told us how they make the strained yogurt; "We boil the milk and then leave it to be cooled in the bottles. In the meantime, the water of boiled milk will rise to the top. The boiled milk must rest in a bown for a few days. Finally, you will have strained yogurt. Pour olive oil on the strained yogurt to preserve it and keep it in cold. You can keep the strained yogurt for winter by using this method."
