'Martyr Baz Women's Academy' trains new teachers

RIMÊLAN - "Martyr Baz Women's Academy" has been opened for Rojava female teachers. Women those who have participated in lesson of Academy, have training to be teachers. Teacher candidates expressed that they'll liberate the children by giving education. "We'll give an answer to the system through this Academy." said the teacher candidates.
"Martyr Baz Women's Academy" was opened on April 4 in the Rimêlan city of Rojava. The Academy is the first in its field in Rojava. 28 women have participated in the education of the Academy. The topics of education in the Academy have concentrated on ideological subjects. We spoke to these teacher candidates about the education in the academy.
Dilan Xelef is a teacher in the academy. Dilan said, "Women teachers' academy is the first. It was opened on April 4, the birthday of Leader Apo (refer to Abdullah Öcalan). The Leader Apo fought for the freedom of women. We opened this academy on his birthday to celebrate his birthday. Our purpose is that female teachers' female teachers have more self-training and strength. Oppressive systems have imposed their tyranny mindset on us and they have tried to push us away from our truth. We'll give answer these system and we'll create free individuals through the Academy."
Leyla Hisê is one of the teacher candidates in the Academy. She pointed out how education and knowledge are important for all people and she said, "Woman's consciousness is the woman's weapon. Therefore, I have participated in this training cycle like other women. Women those who have been subjected to violence and torture of patriarchal system, can become free through the academies like in Rojava."
Another teacher candidate Hojîn Ehmed, meanwhile, said, "This academy is for future. As Rojava female teachers, we'll take a step to build a future free with the ideas and philosophy of Leader Apo. We'll work to create a generation with an independen mind away from male mindset."
