'Asya becomes symbol of resistance by resisting'

ŞIRNEX - Cizre Popular Assembly co-chair Asya Yüksel, one of the over 100 people massacred in one of the three "basements of savagery" was buried next to her brother Necmettin Ürün, killed in 1995 by state forces, in Uludere. "Asya is the daughter of all of us. Everyone likes Asya for us. She has become sysmbol of resistance by resisting. Asya resisted for the freedom of Kurdistan. We are very pround of her." spoke at the funeral ceremony Asya's father Abdulkerim Ürün.

Cizre Popular Assembly co-chair Asya Yüksel, one of the over 100 people massacred in one of the three "basements of savagery" was buried in Uludere (Qileban) after months by her family. Her body had been tought to belong to Azime Yıldızgörer and had been buried in Hosar (Düzova) by Azime Yıldızgörer's family. Asya's body was taken from Hosar to Uludere yesterday by Asya's family after three months. Citizens in the villages located in the route of the funeral convoy met the funeral by shouting the slogans such as "Martyrs are immortal" and "Women, life, freedom". Asya's coffin draped over with the PKK flag was taken to Özelli Neighborhood's Cementry by carrying on shoulders. People bid farewell to Aysel with singing the song "Se jinen Azad" (Three free women) in accordance with her will.

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Uludere chair Mesut Paksoy made a speech after stand in silence for those who lost their life in the struggle of democracy and revolution. He said, "Asya comrade raised the struggle of the Kurdish Freedom with her blood by pioneering self-government resistance in Botan. As comrades of Asya, we give our martyrs of the revolution our word to carry their struggle."

Asya Yüksel was buried next to her brother Necmettin Ürün, killed in 1995 by state forces, with rose seeds.
