AMED - The Free Women's Congress (KJA) stated that the lifting of parliamentary immunities has been activated against achievements of women and to form a Parliament without women's will and voice. The KJA called on all women to say "No" to constitutional amendment for lifting the immunities.

The Free Women's Congress (KJA) organized a press meeting concerning the campaign "No" against lifting parliamentary immunities in Ekin Ceren Women's Center in Diyarbakır. The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MPs Sibel Yiğitalp, Feleknaz Uca and Selma Irmak, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Gültan Kışanak and Peace Mothers participated in the meeting. Women those who said they will say "No" to constitutional amendment for lifting the immunities, called on all people to claim their will in the Parliament. The KJA speaker Ayla Akat Ata read the press statement in Turkish. She poited out that legislative immunity is a right to purpose to guarantee the elected politicians say their thoughts. "This right doesn't belong to the parliamentarians, it belongs to the people who elected and sent the parliamentarians to the Parliament."

Ayla stated that the AKP government governs the country with the perceptive of "For the people despite the people" and they ignore the demands and priorities of the public. Ayla said, "Kurdish women say "No" to the coup which has begun with imposing isolation on Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Prison.Lifting of the HDP MPs, who have tried to find a democratic and peacefull solution to the Kurdish problem and the democractization of Turkey, immunities increases the coup process."

Ayla pointed out that the lifting of parliamentary immunities has been activated against achievements of women and to form a Parliament without women's will and voice. "They try to oppress the women by harassment and rape and displaying the bodies of women. Thousands of elected women have been detained and hundrends of women have been jailed. They want to enslave the society by breaking the women's freedom of will.

"That's why the male-dominant, fascist and rapist system has continued to pursue politics of violence against women's liberal and pluralist system."

Ayla called on all women to claim their will and raise the struggle against the mind of coup.
