ŞIRNEX - Hatice Dayan prepared her house for the wedding part of her brother in the Cudi neighborhood of Şırnak, where state forces attacked more intensely, her house's basement has been imprinted on the memories as "first basement of savagery". "As women, we'll dree the wound of Cizre, we'll heal the wounds." said Hatice.
Şırnak's Cizre district had been besieged for months. Hatice Dayan is one of the citizens who bore withness to the attacks in the town. Hatice, who witnessed to what happened in Cizre by staying in the Cudi Neighborhood for 34 days. Hatice had prepared a house for her brother's wedding party. Then, this house's basement has been imprinted on the memories as "first basement of savagery" where the wounded citizens had been taken refuge. Hatice said that state forces had attacked their neighborhood in 1980s and 1990s. "As women, we had got colored dresses on us and we had gone to out during the celebration of Newroz to break the black atmosphere on the town. When the people saw our colored dresses, they flew to the streets. But, this time, everything is diffirent. We haven't experienced such things in our history." said Hatice.
Hatice stated that Cizre people resisted against a big army for months. Mother of 10 Hatice said that her two children lost their life in the struggle of the Kurdish people.Hatice pointed out that all she wants to see the Cudi neighborhood same as before again. Hatice said, "I resisted a lot for my home and my land. Cizre is the land of my grandfathers and grandmothers. My twho sons and four grandchildren lost their life to stop the war. I know you are going to ask me "What did I come through in this war? I have come through many things; I have suffered a lot. I have heard the screams of people. However, I never close my ear to the screams. I wanted to help resister children even if my legs are disabled. Whenever I heard their voice, I called them "come here". I heard their screams in the basement. I wanted to help them, however, I couldn't do anything due to my legs."
Hatice had stayed in the neighborhood with her two small grandchildren during the genocidal attacks on the town. Hatice stated that she told the children that she didn't want to leave the neighborhood. Hatice said, "Do you think how many people fought against the tanks and artillery? There were two youth in some houses while one in the others. I was really surprised how they could resist alone for days."
Hatice said that she sent her two grandchildren to call an ambulance and they left the neighborhood with ambulance, "My son came and took me from the neighborhood with ambulance. My 15-year-old granddaughter cried along the road. She said, "Why did we leave our friends and lands? She didn't accept to be away from the resistance and she joined the resistance."
Hatice said that they visit their home every day and they sit in front of their demolish house. As women and mothers, they'll dress the wounds of Cizre together.
