'I'll return my home even if they demolish it'

AMED - Sur women had been forced to leave their home with threats such as, "Leave here or we'll kill you." One of these women Belkısa wants to see her "banned" home. Belkısa pointed out that they'll never forget this atrocity and said that she'll return to her home at all costs.

Citizens those who had been forced to leave their homes with genocidal attacks and displacement policies in Sur, have had difficult times. The families left their home without taking anything. The families lament for the youths who were killed in Sur. State forces threatened the Sur people by saying, "Leave or we'll kill you." And they forced the people to leave their homes. Belkısa Aslan is one of these people. Belkısa said, "I wish I hadn't left Sur. At least, I wouldn't have to live by being worried now."

Belkısa said that they don't have anything in their home now. She needs a refrigerator to save milk for her child. Belkısa looked for an accommodation with her seven children for a while after left Sur. Belkısa said that staying in Sur is better than leaving their home and added, "They tore down the houses. They threw us from our house. Now, we don't have even a refrigerator. My children become sick and I cannot buy medicine for them." Belkısa is living in a rented house and she has difficulty to pay the rent.

Belkısa said that state forces told them, "Leave here or die inside." Belkısa had to leave her home due to her children are small. She said that she left her heart in Sur. Belkısa stated that the youths those who resisted in Sur didn't cause harm to them; on the contrary, they felt safe with the youth.

Belkısa said, "Police told me that my house was demolished. I'll put up a tent there, but never give them my home. I went up to a roof of a house in Sur. While all houses in the Hasırlı are being pulled down, the police are having coffee there. Then, they tell us, "We are here to protect you." Do they protect who from whom? They destroyed everything. As Sur people, we'll never forget what was done."
