AMED – Yekda Günay founded Amedspor female fans group with her mother. She called on women to attend next season by saying, “The voice of women is needed to make heard in tribune. We want to show that women are in every area.”

Women have continued their struggle in each area which men have monopolized such as sports. Women have begun to reflect their colors in tribunes by founding their fan group. Purple Tribune is female fans group of Amedspor. The organization has increasing in the Purple Tribune. The idea of founding a female fans group was brought forward by Yekda Günay and her mother those who have attended all matches of Amedspor. As Purple Tribune, which was founded almost in five months, has been getting bigger, women have begun to support Amedspor due to ongoing pressure on the team.

Yelda explained why women must be in tribune, “We are strong and sacred creatures who are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. Maybe we aren’t physically as strong as men; however, our faith, determination and attitudes are an example for men.

“We could raise our voice in men fans groups. First, we started on our way as a formation of different women. We made a great effort, we worked a lot, and we gave our nights and days to this formation. What was the reason? Our efforts flew in our hands one by one with the psychological pressures under male hegemony. However, we didn’t surrender, surrendering doesn’t suit to women. Women are strong heroes. My hero is my mother. We managed to found Purple Tribune by standing shoulder to shoulder and supporting each other.

“As mother and daughter, we pioneered a movement to raise women’s voice in tribunes. Slowly, we have begun to feel the support of other women. Our aim isn’t to neither make contributions on behalf of Amedspor nor get unearned income. We just show that the important role of our team in women’s movement by showing women can be everywhere. We show that we can raise our voice everywhere with the Purple Tribune.”

Yekta waits for all women to attend the next season matches.
