Houses demolished in Cizre’s Nur Neighborhood

ŞIRNEX – Şırnak Governor Environment and Provincial Derectorate sent notification to Mukhtar of Nur Neighborhood. The notification is written that the building determined as “damaged” must be demolished “urgently”. The demolishment has been begun in the Nur Neighborhood.
The large part of Şırnak’s Cizre district has been demolished with artillery by state forces following the 79-day long genocidal attacks in the district. "Urgent expropriation" has been declared in the cities and districts of Kurdistan by cabinet decision. The destruction of the cities and district was begun. Decision of demolishment of about 4000 building allerged “heavily damaged” is made by Cizre Governorship after the deciaion of “urgent expropriation”.
The district governorship sent the notification about 4000 houses and says the citizens have to leave their houses in three days. Şırnak Bar established a commission to help the citizens against this notification. Thousands of families applied to the commission in three days and objected to the decision. However, Şırnak Governor Environment and Provincial Derectorate sent notification to Cizre Governorship dated May 20. The objections were overrulled in the notification. The notification reads as;
“The citizens applied us with petitions against destruction of buildings determined as “heavily damaged”. The buildings have been determined as “heavily damaged” by technical staff of our Ministry. The heavily damaged buildings pose danger. The people have to leave the buildings urgently.”
3 crawler diggers entered Nur Neighborhood accompanied by 4 armored vehicles in the morning hours. The diggers started demolishing houses in Kolami Street near the flour factory in the neighborhood. Five-stored building is decided to be demolished even if it isn’t damaged. Five families those who live in the building reacted to the decision.
One of habitants Behiye Eksen said, “We will never leave our home, we don’t have any place to go. We will never leave our home even if they collapse the home on us.”
Another habitant and confined to bed Gendi Eksen, meanwhile, said, “The state doesn’t practice law against us. If the state is our state, why does it demolish Cizre? Such a state isn’t our state. We don’t go anywhere.”
