DGKİ: We’ll apply our self-defense agains male’s mindset

AMED - Democratic Young Women's Initiative (DGKİ) member Tirde Avesta stated that they have declared a war against male’s mindset and they’ll never forgive any man who attacks on women. “We’ll apply our self-defense in the spirit of Kurdish women’s resistance.” said Tirde.
Democratic Young Women's Initiative (DGKİ) members have taken the action against sexual abuse, assault, rape and all forms of violence. Democratic Young Women's Initiative (DGKİ) member Tirde Avesta stated that they’ll apply their self-defense against male violence and attacks. Tirda said, “We won’t adopt the rape which male’s mindset adopts and creates and we wont’t allow the rape to be legitimated.”
Tirda pointed out that the violence agains women and children aren’t independent from the state and they will fight against that to the end. Tirda said, “The male’s mindset, which considers the women as sexual object and commodity and cooking and looking after the children are women’s works, feels free to touch the woman’s body now. They think that women are for them and they can have woman’s body easily. These ideas and approaches can not be considered independent the state’s mindset. They should know very well that we, as women, aren’t their slaves and no one is our owner. The society has existed with us and it will continue to exist with us.”
Tirda stated that they will never allow any man to touch woman’ body, “Whosoever touch our bodies in streets, homes, works and schools or other places, they will receive the severest response. As Democratic Young Women's Initiative, we will be everywhere. We will never forgive the men those who try to touch a child or a woman by force, batter and exploit children or women. All young women must be in streets and say “No” to the harassment and rape. The struggle began with Kurdish women’s movement will continue under the leadership of the Young Women's Initiative.
“We can say stop to men and the state’s mindset which created the male’s mindset by revolting. Self-defense is a right and we’ll use our right to the end. We’ll apply our self-defense in the spirit of Kurdish women’s resistance such as Arin, Roza, Adar, Beritan, Sakine, Zilan and other Kurdish women.”
