Uğur becomes immortalized with children's songs

MÊRDÎN - 12-year-old Uğur Kaymaz was killed by state forces with 13 bullets in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin. A children's choir named Uğur "Oxurê Nemir Children's Choir" (Oxurê Nemir: Immortal Uğur) has continued its works. Uğur had been a member of the choir before he was killed. The children in choir said, "We complete what Uğur left incomplete."
Oxurê Nemir Children's Choir" (Oxurê Nemir: Immortal Uğur) has been formed within the scope of Martyr Ali Temel Cultural Arts Center in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin. The choir was named after 12-year-old Uğur Kaymaz, who was killed by state forces with 13 bullets in 2004. While, children have immortalized Uğur with their songs, the children say they will always remember him.
Şiyar Munzur Kaya has actively participated in activities of the Martyr Ali Temel Cultural Arts Center for three years and she has played baglama in the choir. 14-year-old Şiyar said, "Uğur Kaymaz was a child like us; however, he was killed. That's why the choir was named after Uğur. Uğur Kaymaz sang songs in the choir. However, he could continue to sing due to he was killed. We complete what Uğur left incomplete and we will render him immortal."
10-year-old Nurjin Yılmaz is also a member of the choir. Nurjin has played baglama and she has been vocal of the solo. Music lover Nurjin wants to be a music teacher. Nurjin said, "I get music training with my culture and art. I will continue to come to Martyr Ali Temel Cultural Arts Center in every summer holiday. I improve myself in music here."
Another member of the choir Rojin Yılmaz, meanwhile, said, "The music education in the school and here are different from each other. I have learned a lot in the choir. We are learning how to sing by using our native language. Our history and songs are wonderful."
