3rd Short Story Festival begins in Rojava

QAMIŞLO - Third Short Story Festival began in Rojava yesterday with great enthusiasm. Kurdish, Arabic and Syriac writers read their stories. Awards will be given to the stories in Kurdish and Arabic at the end of the festival.
Third Short Story Festival, which was organized by Ministry of Cultural Affairs with Qamişlo Autonomous Government, began yesterday. Autonomous Government representatives, the Mesopotamian Movement for Democratic Culture and Art in Europe (TEV-ÇAND) members and art-lovers have participated in the festival. As women have showed great interest in the festival, they lend color to the festival with their national dresses.
Abdülkerim Saruxan from Autonomous Government made the opening speech. Abdülkerim commemorated the ones those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle of freedom and democracy and he saluted the people resisting in Manbij, Raqqa, Efrin and Şêx Meqsûd.
Ministry of Cultural Affairs co-chair Berivan Xalid, meanwhile, saluted the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Berivan reminded that they were organized two story festivals in Rojava and Cizîr Cantons and she stated that the third festival was organized with great effort with the participation of three parts of Kurdistan and all cantons.
Nürşin Becemali made a speech in behalf of the Festival Preparatory Committee. Nürşin stated that the festival will continue for five days and nearly 10 Kurdish and Arabic short stories will be read. She also reported that two short stories in Sorani (dialect of Kurdish language), 30 Kurdish short stories and 25 Arabic short stories have been applied to the festival.
Awards will be given to the stories in Kurdish and Arabic at the end of the festival. The festival continues.
