ANKARA - 25-year-old Cafer Altun lost his leg in bomb attacks in front of the Ankara Train Station on October 10, 2015 by Daesh. A campaign has been launched in order to get prosthesis for Cafer. The overall cost of the prosthesis and fitting is 26,000 US Dollars.

Daesh detonated two bombs in front of the Ankara Train Station, where thousands had gathered for a peace protest against the rising violence in Turkey and the actions of the government. These explosions caused the deaths of 102 people and injured hundreds more. Cafer Altun was also there to share his hopes of better days to come. Immediately after the explosion, Cafer was taken to hospital by taxi, since there were no ambulances at the scene. On arrival at the hospital Cafer was believed to be dead and placed in a side ward. By chance, a doctor checked his pulse and Cafer was resuscitated after a series of medical interventions. For months Cafer has been struggling with the damage to his body caused by the explosion and Cafer lost his right leg in the explosion. A campaign has been launched under the leadership of the October 10 Peace and Solidarity Association on the indiegogo (the largest global crowdfunding and fundraising site).

The October 10 Peace and Solidarity Association called for solidarity with Cafer by stating, "For months Cafer has been struggling with the damage to his body caused by the explosion; he has suffered hearing loss, he has lost partial vision in his right eye, and many fragments of shrapnel still remain in his body. But most important of all, Cafer lost his right leg in the explosion. Despite this, Cafer has not given up on life or on his teaching ambitions. He needs prosthesis in order to continue along the path of his as yet unrealized dreams. Since he lost his kneecap, this prosthesis needs to be tailoring made, but as the microprocessor-controlled hydraulic prosthesis is not produced in Turkey, the parts first need to be imported before being fitted by local experts."
