'We won't leave Kurdistan even if the ground opens up'

COLEMÊRG - The state's genocidal and displacement policies lasted in Yüksekova for 79 days. Aynur Turgay is one of the people of Yüksekova those who returned to their lands after lifting the 24-hour curfew. Aynur said, "We wouldn't live in the tents now, if we wanted to leave our lands. These lands are Kurdistan's lands. We won't leave Kurdistan even if the ground opens up."
Hakkari's Yüksekova district has been turned into ruin during 79 days attacks. Families those who returned to the ruined district have tried to find temporary solutions for housing problems by setting up tents in the gardens of their houses against the state's policies of displacement. The families have begun to rebuild their houses while they are living in the tents. Aynur Turgay is one of those people who returned to the town. 14 members of Aynur's family live together in a tent. They returned to the town just after the curfew had been lifted.
One member of family Feyzullah Turgay stated that they don't get any help from the state and they set up the tent by themselves. Feysullah said that they will never accept any help from the state which destroyed their house. He said, "We live in the tent with our children. We don't have anything left. They burned and demolished our house. We will stay here until winter. We will sleep out and we will rebuild our house."
"We wouldn't live in the tents now, if we wanted to leave our lands." said Aynur Turgay and continued to talk by saying, "We live two families together now. The same antrocity has been imposed on Kurdish people for years. These lands are Kurdistan's lands. We won't leave Kurdistan even if the ground opens up."
