Van Peace Mothers Assembly made a statement about the gendered discourse of President Tayyip Erdoğan, who said, "Women without children are 'deficient' and 'incomplete'." The mothers gathered in front of the office of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) to make the statement. One of the members of Van Peace Mothers Assembly Hanife Kaçak stated that women are free in every respect and the power of decisions about their bodies is theirs. Hanife pointed out that no one has the right to speak about women give birth to child or not. She said, "Erdoğan is a son of a mother and a husband of a woman. He must think about the women around him when he offends women. He asks women to give birth to children; however, he must remember that killed women cannot give birth to children!"

Another Van Peace Mothers Assembly member Rabia Ağır, meanwhile, stated that the reason of the gendered discourse of President Tayyip Erdoğan is that he is afraid of women. Rabia said, "Erdoğan meddles in God's business now. He speaks in a way that doesn't fit any sense. Women are women. They aren't incomplete it doesn't matter if they give birth to a child or not. Women aren't incomplete, your mind is."
