Women send off Şehriban with slogans

ÊLIH -The Free Women's Congress (KJA) member Şehriban Altunışık was killed during the state's genocidal attacks carried out in Şırnak. Şehriban was sent off on an eternal journey in Batman by thousands of people. The KJA member Ayla Akat said, "Our claim for freedom brings us together at this funeral today. Sêvê reached to infinity in Silopi and Berjin in Cizre. Sêvê and Berjin lived through Şehriban and Şehriban will continue to live."

The Free Women's Congress (KJA) member Şehriban Altunışık was killed during the state's genocidal attacks carried out in Şırnak. Şehriban was sent off on an eternal journey in Batman by thousands of people. The funeral of Şehriban was taken from Habur Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) in Şırnak's Silopi district. Şehriban buried in Asri Cemetery in Batman wit the participation of thousands of people.The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Sebahat Tuncel, KJA spokeperson Ayla Akat, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Batman MPs Saadet Becerikli, Ayşe Acar Başaran and Mehmet Ali Aslan, the HDP Siirt MP Besime Konca, HDP Urfa MP Dilek Öcalan, the HDP and DBP administrators, the KJA components and thousands of citizens participated in the funeral. The mass shouted slogans such as, "Martyrs are immortal", "Women life freedom" and "Long live the resistance of Şırnak". The funeral ceremony began after standing in silent homage.

Şehriban's mother Türkan Altunışık made a speech and she said, "Şehriban isn't only my daughter, she is also the daughter of Kurdistan. She is the martyr of Kurdistan. I always follow my daughter's path and protect her case. I am sending my condolences to Kurds, Kurdistan and Apo."

Ayla Akat also made a speech after Şehriban's mother. She said, "The KJA demand democratic self-government like all women. Şehriban said that self-government is the main project to make the state sensitive to democracy. Of course, we will organize in streets, neighborhoods, districts and cities. She said that she would stay in Şırnak. This people have willpower to govern themselves. They demand to have a statu; however, the demand of statu is being ignored by the people govern this country in 2016. Almost one year has passed. What can we see if we look the past? We see Silvan, Cizre, İdil, Yüksekova, Nusaybin and today Şırnak. We have buried hundrands of our young people. We have buried our mothers. Our mothers' bodies remained in the street for 10 days. The bodies weren't given to famillied to be buried. Sêvê reached to infinity in Silopi and Berjin in Cizre. Sêvê and Berjin lived through Şehriban and Şehriban will continue to live.

"Thousands of Kurdish women will be soldiers of this struggle. This struggle isn't over and it will continue."
