WAN - Co-mayor of Çatak Municipality Evin Keve, who was discharged by the Department of the Interior, has been reinstated.
Co-mayor of Çatak Municipality Evin Keve, who was discharged by the Department of the Interior, has been reinstated. The Department of the Interior sent a report to the Van Governor's Office and states that Evin who was acquitted in the first hearing, has been reinstated.
Evin talked about the decision of giving back to duty: "The decision of giving back to duty was communicated to me by the Governorship. I was discharged and arrested unjustly with the accusation for "having potential to declare self-governance" like many co-mayors. Then, I was released. I am back to my duty. Am I free? No. Am I happy? No. Because many other friends are in prison as innocent. They should be released and reinstated."
Co-mayor of Çatak Municipality Evin Keve had detained on January 3, 2016 for giving an interview to a news agency with the accusation for "having potential to declare self-governance". She had been jailed and sent to Erzurum Oltu Prison. One and half month later, she had been sent to Bayrut M Type Prison. She was acquitted in the first hearing in April.
