TEV-DA holds its 6th congress

SHENGAL - 6th Congress of TEV-DA began in Shengal Mountain with the participation of 200 delegates and 25 guests.
6th Congress of TEV-DA (Êzidîs' Democratic and Free Movement) is being held in Shengal Mountain with the participation of 200 delegates and 25 guests. The members of the YJŞ (Shengal Women Unite) , YBŞ (Shengal Resistance Units), YJA-STAR (the "Union of Free Women", the star here referring to the ancient Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar), HPG (People's Defence Forces), Shengal Women's Assembly, Shengal Êzidî Assembly, the home of Êzidî is Shengal and the people from Newroz Camp are attending the congress. As banners read, "Women's Freedom is the freedom of society", "Freedom of Shengal is the Freedom of the Middle East" and "Leader Apo is the source of our Free Life" have been hanged on the walls of the conference hall, the photographs of the members of YJŞ, YBŞ YJA-STAR and HPG, who lost their lives on various dates, have been hanged in the conference hall.
Women attended the congress by wearing their white clothes. The congress began with observing a one minute silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy. After one minute silence, TEV-DA president Ömer Salih made the opening speech of the congress and the council members were elected. Edule Simo and Loza Xedada Simo were elected in behalf of women in the council.
The congress has continued with the discussions of political process and organizational statu.
