'Traumas are overcome by social solidarity'

AMED - Kardelen Kadın Evi (Snowdrop Women's House) is doing a field study to enlarge the solidarity with Sur. The members of the house have organized two charity sales until now. Social worker of the Snowdrop Women's House Emine Aslan stated that they have bought refrigerators and other essential needs with the money they collected from two charity sales. Emine said, "We should support each other as society. A war is going on and we can overcome the traumas of this war with social solidarity."

A field study is carring out in Bağlar in solidarity with Sur under the leadership of the Snowdrop Women's House of Diyarbakır Bağlar Municipality. Social worker of the Snowdrop Women's House Emine Aslan pointed out that the solidarity should be not only materially, but also morally by giving information about their works.

Emine said that they have organized charity sales for the families those who were forced to leave Sur with Women's Unit of the Bağlar Municipality. Emine said, "We began the solidarity with the families those who had been forced to leave Sur. We have organized two charity sales until now. We have bought refrigerators and other essential needs with the money we got from two charity sales. Meanwhile, we carry out field studies in Bağlar at evening in Bağlar in order to enlarge the solidarity."

Emine reminded that the people had been forced their homes due to war period in Sur. She said, "Their homes were flattened. The people, who forced to leave Sur, have adaptation problems in different places. They had habits and order in Sur. They had been forced to leave their homes and neighborhoods. They had many difficulties after they had left Sur. This causes a kind of trauma.

"We wanted to give the refrigerator to someone who needs. We went to a home. There were only three children at home. The eldest child was 10 years old. The building already was quite bad situation. There were only several old rugs and beds in the home. There was nothing except these rugs and beds. We asked to the children where their parents were. Their mother was outside and their father didn't work due to Ramadan. We didn't ask any more questions to them. They were small and we didn't want to our questions were affected them. Neighbors, relatives and people can report such families to us. The solidarity should be not only materially, but also morally. we can overcome the traumas of this war with social solidarity and support each other."
