ISTANBUL - Kardelen Fidancı, the daughter of Prof. Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı, who was arrested for taking part in the editor-in-chief campaign in solidarity with Özgür Gündem daily, said, "They cannot intimidate anyone with oppression. They waste their time."

Prof. Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı was sent to Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison for taking part in the editor-in-chief campaign in solidarity with Özgür Gündem daily. As the supports have increased for her, Şebnem Korur Fincancı's daughter Kardelen Fincancı expressed her opinion about arresting her mother. Kardelen said that the pressure on press and opponents is increasing day by day. "The people keep silent by thinking "This won't happen to us"; however, this government is trying to annihilate all people step by step. They looked for a pretext to arrest my mother because she tried to report this annihilation. They found this pretext and put her in prison.

"My mother doesn't feel bad; as a result a very significant solidarity has increased through my mother. Özgür Gündem is a legal daily and what is going on now is pressure on a legal daily. They cannot intimidate anyone with oppression. They waste their time."
