Villages evacuated in Lice

AMED - State forces have carried out operations in the Lice district of Diyarbakır. As many homes have been turned into headquarters by demolishing, the forestlands are set on fire. Almost 90 homes in the Kerwas (Yalaza) village of Lice were burned by soldiers and the village has been invaded by force.

Villages have begun to be evacuated by soldiers after ongoing operation and bombardment in Diyarbakır's Lice district. According to Dicle News Agency (DİHA), almost 90 homes in Yalaza village have been evacuated by soldiers. Soldiers and special forces members, who occupied the village, evacuated the village by saying the villagers that "We'will go into close clashes. We'll carry out a wide range of military operations. We cannot ensure your safety."

Meanwhile, several families haven't left their homes despite the treats. Hundreds of citizens in the Mehle hamlet of Yalaza village have faced with same pressure. The hamlet's citizens stated that a great game has been played on Lice.

One of habitants in village named Özlem, who asked that her last name not be used for security reasons, said, "This village is our village. A hundred years of cultural history and our language have been kept alive here. Now, soldiers want us to leave here by occupying our village. But, we will never our village. Our attitude is a humanitarian attitude. We won't leave lands of birth. They have burned and demolished our villages under our eyes. They have bombed our mountains."

Özlem emphasized that the oppression and savagery carried out in Lice cannot be acceptable. She stated that soldiers and special forces want to create fear by applying pressure and torturing people. Özlem said, "The pressure and fear are wanted to be implemented in Lice like in Rojava. People those who resisted by not leaving their villages in 1990s, are resisting again."

37- year-old Aycan Çakıl pointed out the fire continues for days by saying the soldiers have turned their villages into their residence. Ayhan said that they cannot go out for days and the practices carried out in Sur, Cizre and Nusaybin are being carried out in Lice now."

Aycan said that their children have cried when they hear the bomb sounds and they don't have security of life anymore.

A citizen named Neside Kocakaya (50) stated they have lived under bombardment. She expressed her reaction with following words, "Erdoğan want to carry out a massacre on Kurdish people for his presidential system. The AKP will loss in this war which it began for its benefit. We left our villages in 1990s because we were unconscious. We have faced with same practices; however, we won't leave our villages that time."
