Killed people in Sivas 23 years ago commemorated

SÊWAS - Thousands gathered in Sivas on the 23rd anniversary of Madımak Massacre. The people pointed out that the massacre has continued to be carried out by political power. "The way to get rid of the massacres passes from organization" said thousands of people and they commemorated the people burned to death.

On July, 1993, people were burned to death in Madımak Hotel by reactionary forces supported by the state. Thousands of people gathered in Sivas on the 23rd anniversary of the massacre. Tens of Alevi organizations in Turkey and Europe, political party representatives, the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MPs, Republican People's Party (CHP) MPs and thousands of people began to come to Sivas in the morning.

The people gathered in front of the building of Hacı Bektaşi Veli Anatolian Foundation Cemevi. The people began to march after having breakfast. The police blockade starting at the entrance of the city became intense in area where the commemorating held. Police stopped all cars and checked the IDs.

The organizations, which organized the commemorating, provided their security. Thousands of people pinned the cockade reads, "We won't forget Madımak" with the photos of 33 people who lost their lives in the massacre. The people unfurled the banners read; "The way to get rid of the massacres passes from organization" and "We march on the anniversary of massacre for peace and fraternity". The people aften shouted the slogan, "The light of Sivas will never extinguished."

As people continued to gather, thousands of people will march to Madımak Hotel.
