ISTANBUL -The Saturday Mothers, who have gathered every Saturday in front of central Istanbul's Galatasaray high school to draw attention to their missing family members, gathered this week again for 589th times for asking whereabouts of Ayten Öztürk who was abducted in 1992 with a white car in Dersim. The mothers continue to ask where the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Şırnak executive Hurşit Külter is.
The Saturday Mother gathered in the Galatasaray Square in Istanbul this week again for 589th times for asking the whereabouts of forced disappearances by holding photographs of their lost loved ones and unfurling a banner reads, “Disappearances sould be found, perpetrators should be tried.”Saturday Mothers and people asked, “Where is Hurşit Külter?”
Saturday Mothers gathered this week again for 589th times for asking whereabouts of Ayten Öztürk who was abducted on July 27, 1992 with a white car in Dersim’s Mazgirt district. Ayten was abducted while she went to her home from work. Her dead body was found on August 8, 1992 near location of Kartalpete of Elazığ’s Karşıyaka as buried. She was tortured so her body was identified by looking her dress. However, the torture findings didn’t be written in the autopsy report. Doctors didn’t make a detailed autopsy and the case was closed. Ayten’s father Hıdır Öztürk sent a sound record and he said, “I stand against you as a father of a girl who was abducted and tortured by state and her eyes were removed and her ears were cut off by torturing. I claim my daugter’s rights.”
Evrim Baykondu read the press statement in behalf of Saturdays People. The statements reads as, “JİTEM (Gendarmerie Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism) commanders announced that Ayten Öztürk was abducted by JİTEM members and Yeşil’s team (nom de guerre is Yeşil, his real name is Mahmut Yıldırım) with a white Land-Rover allocated by State of Emergency Governor's. Then she was taken to JİTEM office in Diyarbakır. She was executed after tree-day torture. There are these statements in the press, too.” Saturday People pointed out the whereabouts of Hurşit Külter in the statement. “Where is Hurşit Külter? We know what means of this silence. The state supervisory council should take an action about Hurşit. Kerime Külter asks, “Where is my son?” the state should answer the question of Kerime Külter in accordance with the truth.”
