AMED - Dead body of Sultan Irmak, who was killed in "first savagery basement", has been identified as a result of DNA match.
Sultan Irmak was killed in "the first savagery basement" on January 30 during "curfew" lasted 79 days in Şırnak's Cizre district. She had been wounded for eight days in the basement; however, she passed away due to blocking ambulance access by state forces. The dead bodies of hundreds of killed people were sent to Forensic Medicine Institutes in Habur, Şırnak, Gaziantep, Mardin and Urfa with Sultan's body. Corpse of Sultan had been buried in the Yeşerdi (Gundê Cano) village of Diyarbakır's Silvan district on February 11. However, after a while, it was understood that the buried person was Derya Karahan not Sultan Irmak as result of DNA match. Corpse of Derya was taken from the village and reburied in Yeniköy Cemetery by her family.
Sultan's family tried to find their daughter's corpse since then. According to report received from MEYA-DER (the Mesopotamia Association of Assistance and Solidarity for Familieswith Lost Relatives) Sultan's dead body was found as a result of DNA match. Sultan had been buried in Cemetery of the Nameless in Silopi and her family went to Silopi for their daughter.
