Parliament convenes for extraordinary meeting

ANKARA/ISTANBUL - After Turkish Armed Forces declared that they take power of the country, 90 people have died and many people have been detained. As events have continued in Ankara and Istanbul, Grant National Assembly of the Parliament has convened for extraordinary meeting.

Last night, Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) declared that they take control of the country. After the declaration, extraordinary developments began to ongoing in Turkey. As dozens of people died in the events in Ankara and Istanbul, many people have been injured. It is reported that 90 people have died until now after coup attempt. Gölbaşı
Public Prosecutor reported that 42 people have died in the attacks on Ankara. Ankara Deputy Chief Prosecutor reported that 90 people have died in the events across the country.

Roads blocked in Ankara

After coup attempt against government, Çankaya Palace and Prime Minister's Official Home in Ankara have been taken to the security perimeter. Within the scope of that, Ataturk Boulevard, Simon Bolivar Boulevard, Iran Avenue, Çankaya Avenue and Ziaur Rahman Avenue have been closed to traffic. Police Teams closed the roads by using minibus, public buses, concrete mixer, fire trucks and TOMA.

80 students of the Military High School in Istanbul have been detained for participation in the coup attempt.

Meanwhile, Grant National Assembly of the Parliament has convened for extraordinary meeting. The meeting has been chaired by Parliamentary Speaker İsmail Kahraman. İsmail Kahraman made speech and stated that, "We'll compensate this wound in a short time. We are representatives in the Parliament that represents the sovereignty of people. We should be here as representatives of people. Three parties came to here. İdris Baluken called me and he said that they want to come to here; however, they didn't come in order to prevent a probable provocation."

Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ made statement about what is going on after the speech of İsmail Kahraman. Bekir Bozdağ stated that today is a historic day for Turkey and he claimed that an illegal coup attempt has been started against all organs of the state. The meeting continues.
