AMED - As "Curfew" declared in Silvan three days ago has continued, women reacted to the situation by saying, "Mountains are ours", demanded the end of ban and operations carried out.
As "curfew" and siege have been imposed in Diyarbakır's Silvan district for three days, citizens have been taken into custody by conducting raids on homes. The Entrance and exit of Silvan have been closed.As no one can reach many villages by phone due to communication problems, siege continues in reached villages. Women in besieged villages demand to lift the curfew as soon as possible.
Women in the besieged village Sexte (Eskiocak) said, "Fire broke out five-six days ago caused by artillery, village people went to put out the fire after announcement from mosque at 6:00 a.m. We always hear gunshots and sound of shelling. Curfew has continued for three days."
Women said that mountains are the places of villagers not soldiers and continued, "We don't want to hear gunshots of soldiers. Mountains are ours. We tun out our animals on mountains, we can breathe on mountains. We cannot go to our mountains due to ongoing operations. We demand to lift the ban and put an end to operations carried out right away. They won't do what they did in 1990s."
